Profiles
Longshot has been around for six years and has seen a few changes in members since it started.
Please find below detailed profiles of each member of the band and a bit about who they are.
Tom Hutchison - vocals/guitars
Tom, 26, has been working as a reporter for a local newspaper in East London for the past three years. His interests include music (obviously), writing, keeping fit and drinking.
He helped start the band back in 1999 while working as a glass collector with Alan Porter and Matt Foreman at Walthamstow Stadium. His musical influences include Led Zepplin, Reef, Oasis, Metallica, James Taylor and Coldplay.
Tom is the lead singer and guitarist of Longshot and writes many of the songs with co-guitarist Alan Porter.
Alan Porter - vocals/guitars
Guitarist and backing vocalist Alan is 25-years-old and is currently temping around the Liverpool Street area of central London.
Alan was the original Longshot drummer when the band started out as a three-piece rock group but has since progressed onto becoming an integral second guitarist.
He enjoys socialising, rocking, and generally trying to enjoy himself. Influences include everything from Extreme to James Taylor, David Gray to The Beatles.
Alex Butters - keyboards
Alex is 22-years-old and recently graduated from Trinity College of Music. He currently works as a music teacher at Woodbridge High School and also gives piano and woodwind lessons.
He co-composed and performed in the 2005 Philip Lawrence Awards, presented by Sir Trevor MacDonald, and regularly works as musical director for the Redbridge Drama Centre and Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford.
Also in covers band www.tuxedogroove.com, Alex features on the SPNM composer shortlist, www.spnm.org.uk.
He is influenced by a wide variety of music from J.S. Bach, Miles Davis, Varese, to Mattias Ia Eklundh, likes reading, does not mind the occasional drink and is a keen follower of motorsports.
Alan Enston - drums
Alan is 21-years-old and joined after completing a diploma course in popular music at Drumtech.
He has recently begun an electrician's apprenticeship with a local company and attends college once a week.
Musical influences include: Sting, Bon Jovi, Queen, Eagles, Dire Straits and Spandau Ballet (does anybody remember them?).
Alan went to the same school as recent newcomer to the band Alex Butters where they often played their own composition based around classical pieces.

Matt Foreman - bass
Matt, 25, has recently completed a three-year engineering degree at Hertfordshire University and currently lives in Bedfordshire with his girlfriend and daughter. He is now working for an engineering company.
Matt was a founder member of Longshot and famously recorded the band's first ever demo during his first rehearsal with the group at a friend's studio close to Tower Bridge.
Having been a member of various bands previously, including a death metal group and jazz band, his diverse influences range from Metallica to Foo Fighters.
